Sealants & Fluoride

Dental Sealants

If Dr. Tiffany determines your child is a candidate for sealants, they will have a coating painted onto the biting surface of the tooth. This method really helps to prevent decay on the tooth’s surface. Dental sealants are common and act as a barrier for the deeper groves and protect the enamel from plaque buildup.

Sealants are easy to apply and take only a few minutes to place. They withstand the force of normal chewing and can last several years before a reapplication is needed.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride treatment is another common preventative that help the teeth regain lost minerals and make them more resistant to acid. These treatments are quick and easy, often taking a few minutes at the end of a regular cleaning or checkup.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

Also known as “SDF”, this is a non-invasive option in treating cavities that involves no numbing, drilling or filling. SDF stops cavities from getting bigger and also helps with sensitivity. SDF is a great treatment option for patients who are unable to tolerate more traditional restorative treatment. It is also a great option for baby teeth with cavities that will fall out soon.

The liquid is simply brushed onto the affected area of the tooth killing the bacteria that cause tooth decay.
